How the fair bill split works

Stop paying for other people's drinks! This calculator separates alcoholic beverages from the rest of the bill, ensuring everyone pays only their fair share.

How it works

  1. Enter total bill — The full amount from the restaurant
  2. Enter alcoholic drinks total — Only the value of beers, cocktails, wine, etc.
  3. Set number of people — Who drank alcohol and who didn't
  4. Add tip — Percentage or custom amount
  5. Get fair split — Non-drinkers pay only for food + tip share; drinkers pay for their drinks + food + tip

The formula

  • Food total = Total bill − Alcoholic drinks total
  • Food per person = Food total ÷ Total number of people (everyone shares food)
  • Tip per person = Tip amount ÷ Total people
  • Non-drinker pays = Food share + Tip share
  • Drinker pays = Food share + Tip share + (Alcohol total ÷ Number of drinkers)
